Writing Feedback Example
Before This advertisement is trying to convince people to buy the product by using a famous person and bright colors which are effective techniques.
After By pairing a celebrity endorsement with saturated colour, the advertisement borrows the celebrity's credibility while using colour to signal energy and youth — appealing directly to its target demographic.
IB Language & Literature specifically rewards explaining *why* a technique works, not just identifying it. Feedback trains students to connect device, purpose, and audience explicitly, rather than stopping at naming the technique.
Curriculum
- English A · Literature: focused solely on literary texts — poetry, novels, and plays
- English A · Language & Literature: 50% literary texts and 50% non-literary texts (advertising, news, speeches, social media copy, etc.) — currently the most commonly chosen option among Chinese international schools
- English B (foreign-language level): focused on practical language use and cultural communication, at a lower difficulty than English A
